Crochet pattern for beginners - Pattern no. 5

Abbreviations:
sc= single crochet
dc= double crochet
ch = chain
ch-X sp = chain-X space
Xdctog = X double crochet together

Level: Beginner

Work a loose chain from a multiple of 4, plus 2 extra chains to complete the pattern.

R1: Work 1sc in the 2nd ch from the hook; * 5 ch ; skip 3 ch; 1sc in the next ch*. Repeat from * to * and finish the row with 3 extra ch to turn.

R2: In the first ch-5 sp from previous row work 2 dc tog; * ch 3; 4dc tog split this way: 2dc in the same ch-5 sp as the previous 2dctog and the other 2dctog in the next ch-5 space ( pull the yarn through all remaining 5 loops on the hook - this is the 4dctog)*. Repeat from * to * and finish the row with 1dc in the last sc from the previous row, plus 1 extra ch to turn.

R3: Work 1 sc in the first dc from previous row; * ch 5; 1 sc in the first ch of the ch-3 worked after the first 4 dctog*. Repeat from * to* and finish the row with 1 sc in the last ch of the previous row, plus 3 extra chains to turn.

Repeat rows 2 and 3.

R1: Work 1sc in the 2nd ch from the hook; * skip 2 ch; in the next ch work 3dc tog, 3ch ,3dc tog; 1ch; skip 2 ch; 1 sc*. Repeat from * to * and finish the row with a ch of 4 to turn.

R2: Work 1dc in the first sc from previous row; * skip the 2 groups of 3 dc tog and ch-3 sp between them from previous row; in the next 1sc work: 1dc, 4ch,1dc*. Repeat from * to * and finish the row with 1dc, 1ch, 1dc in the last 1sc from previous row, plus 1 extra chain to turn.

R3: Work 1 sc in the first dc from previous row; * in the next dc work: 3dc tog, 3 ch, 3 dc tog ; 1 ch ; 1 sc in the next ch-4 sp from previous row*. Repeat from * to * and finish the row with 1 sc in the last ch sp of the previous row, plus 4 extra ch to turn.

Work a loose chain from a multiple of 8, plus 4 extra chains to complete the pattern.

R1: Work 1dc in the 4th ch from the hook; * skip 3 ch; in the next ch work: 1 sc, 3 ch, 1sc; skip the next 3 ch; in the next ch work: 2 dc, 2 ch, 2 dc *. Repeat from * to * and finish the row with 3 dc in the last ch of the row, plus 3 extra ch to turn.

R2: Work 1 sc in the first dc from previous row; * in the next ch-3 sp between the 2 sc from previous row work : 2dc, 2 ch, 2 dc; in the next ch-2 sp between the 2 groups of dc from previous row work: 1 sc, 3 ch, 1 sc *. Repeat from * to * and finish the row with 1 sc, 3 ch, 1 sc in the last ch from previous row, plus 3 ch to turn.

R3: In the first ch-3 sp from row 2 work 2dc: * in the next ch-2 sp group: 1 sc,3 ch, 1sc; in the next ch-3 sp work: 2dc,2ch,2dc *. Repeat from * to * and finish the row with 3dc in the last ch-3 sp, plus 3 extra chains to turn.

R2: Work 1 dc in the first dc from previous row; *skip the next 2 dc of the previous row; in the next dc work 1dc, 1ch, 1dc; 1 dc, 1 ch, 1 dc in the next dc *. Repeat from * to * and finish the row with 1 dc, 1 ch, 1 dc in the last chain space of the previous row, plus 4 extra chains to turn.
